During the period of July 23 -27, 2018 public organization Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society conducted a nationwide telephone survey.
The purpose of this survey was to measure the opinion of Kyrgyz citizens on proposed amendments to the Law On Changes to the Law On Freedom of Religion and Religious Organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic.
This sociological survey was conducted with the aim of studying the opinion of the population of Kyrgyzstan on proposed amendments to the Law On Making changes to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic On Freedom of Religion and Religious Organizations.
- 91,6% of interviewed respondents attribute themselves to Islamic religion. Only 4,9% profess the Christian religion. Less than 3% of respondents do not attribute to any confession.
- Only 58.5% of respondents among those who profess a certain religion, visit religious institutions. Among them, every seventh visits religious institutions several times a week, every fourth once a week, and every eleventh several times a month. 41.5% of religious people do not attend any religious institutions at all.
- The total proportion of those attending religious institutions was 84.9% among men, and 34.1% among women. Every second male respondent visits religious institutions once a week, and every fifth person several times a week. While most of the surveyed women do not attend religious institutions at all.
